--- ABOUT THE PROJECT---

Chief Technical Adviser, Mr. Franc Ferlin arrived in Belgrade, and the Project has officially started in June 2005. The Project Office has been established in the  FAO Coordination Office - Belgrade, Zarkovacka Street No 2d.
The donor is the Government of Finland. FAO is the implementation Agency and the Government of Serbia with its Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management is the beneficiary.

The Project should contribute to sustainable management and conservation of forest resources of Serbia, aiming at an increased contribution of forestry in the economic and rural development of the country. The approach of the Project implementation will be based on transparency, participation, partnerships and close collaboration with the Forest Directorate and other sectors connected to forests, and with the important forestry and other stakeholders. A number of international and national consultants will support the Project implementation.
Project last 36 months, with a formal beginning at 13.03.2005.
